Solidarity with Ukraine

The Secretary General and the European Schools are deeply affected by the current conflict in the heart of Europe. You will find below Mr Beckmann's letter on this subject (French and German versions will follow shortly).

The EEB2 has therefore decided to join the solidarity movements that are emerging around the world. A meeting between the Management, the teachers' and students' representatives and the nurses is being held today to discuss the organisation of the actions we wish to undertake. In the coming days, various actions are indeed already planned:

  • The flags of the 27 countries of the European Union will be hoisted at half-mast;
  • A fundraising sale will be organised on the initiative of the Students' Committee (CDE);
  • The nurses will collect food and sanitary products (clothes are no longer needed!) to be sent to an association which will take care of transporting them to Ukraine.

On the other hand, the Directors of the 4 Brussels Schools have decided to organise a "white movement" on Friday the 4th of March and are asking all students and colleagues to dress in white as a sign of our solidarity and commitment to peace.

More than ever, we wish to underline the values of the European Union, which are dear to our community:

The Union is founded on the values of respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights, including the rights of persons belonging to minorities. These values are common to the Member States in a society in which pluralism, non-discrimination, tolerance, justice, solidarity and equality between women and men prevail.

Article 2 of the Treaty of European Union

This is why we ask teachers to answer any questions or concerns our students may have. Supporting and listening to our students during these uncertain times is more important than ever.

Our thoughts are with the Ukrainian people.

Letter from Mr. Beckmann, Secretary-General of the European Schools

In Woluwe as in Evere, the drop-offs are made at the main entrance of the sites from today until Thursday 3/03 at 17.00 for the first delivery. Time is of the essence.  Those for whom this deadline is too short can also drop their donations off until Friday 11/03. We will take care of all the logistics.

Please be assured that the association we are working with has been carefully selected by the Management.

It goes without saying that any other type of donation can also be made via associations whose contact details you can easily find online. Every action counts.

We thank you for your donations and your solidarity.
