Let’s Celebrate Our Young EEB2 Scientists!
It is time for our year-end review! The Physics and Chemistry teachers in S6-S7FR (Mr. Daudon, Mr. Yemsi, Mr. Drulhe), along with all the faculty and lab technicians of the EEB2 science departments, are thrilled to announce the results of the 2025 Physics and Chemistry Olympiads.
For nearly 40 years, the Science Olympiads have brought together over 3 000 participants from across Belgium. After a selective competition, the top performers go on to international contests. As in the past three years, our students were honored at the Results Ceremony (in mid-May). Thanks to their achievement, EEB2 has earned the title of “Science Olympiad School” for the Class of 2025—one of only 14 schools to receive this distinction! 🎉
Here are some of our laureates:
Physics :
-
1st : Julijs Slava 🏅
-
2nd : Tibor Varga
Chimie :
-
4th : Eliza Varga
-
10th : Alexander Dobrucki
👉 The top 10 are the “laureates.” The top 2 in S7 advance to the international stage as “finalists”. Consequently, Tibor will represent Belgium in June in Sofia (EuPhO) and Julijs in July in Paris (IPhO). Having a laureate is always a badge of honor for a secondary school; having a finalist sets you apart—it’s a tremendous privilege. EEB2 has now had at least 2 laureates with at least one finalist for the third year running, and this year we boast two finalists! We’re becoming regulars—let’s make this a tradition!
The success of our laureates reflects their consistent commitment to reaching a level that goes beyond the expectations of European curricula — our heartfelt congratulations! 👏
A few more highlights to round off this stellar review: 🔭
-
Paulina Gedeon secured 9th place for EEB2 at the Francophone Biology Olympiad.
-
Many thanks to all participants in the 2024–2025 Francophone PHY/CHI Olympiads from our FR/DE/EN sections: 15 girls and 12 boys (bravo for this exemplary gender balance!)
-
S6 laureates are automatically qualified for the 2026 Olympiads.
-
The British Physics Olympiad results, overseen by Mr. Ashley and featuring participants from EN, PT, FI, and SV sections, are equally thrilling.
-
A mixed group of students (again, exemplary gender balance — well done!) completed online training to apply for a highly selective CERN research camp.
-
The 2025–2026 CERN study trip for some future S7 students is already in active planning (under Ms. Pinho’s supervision)…
-
…as is our upcoming Science Symposium.
-
One final special mention — a celebration of just how extraordinary many of our pupils are: Veronika Simon, who has been our student for the past two years, is "World Champion" with her Belgium team at the 2025 World Cheerleading Championship (All Girl Elite). What does this have to do with physics? Evidently, Veronika does not feel the effects of gravity like ordinary mortals — her aerial maneuvers are spectacular!
We hope that this flood of distinctions will inspire the future S6-S7 scientists to impress us just as much next year!
