Meeting with Lenny Bassleer, ultra-marathon hiker

As part of Health Week, some primary classes in Woluwe had the opportunity to meet Lenny Bassleer, an ultra-marathon hiker who holds a European record and two world records as the youngest person to have covered the longest distance ever recorded.

Lenny shared powerful insights into perseverance, resilience and pushing personal limits. The pupils were particularly impressed by the extreme conditions he faces during his journeys: very high and low temperatures, encounters with animals such as scorpions, snakes and bears, days without seeing other people, and surviving with very limited food and no access to communication.

His story encouraged students to reflect on their own mindset, the importance of mental strength, and the value of stepping outside their comfort zone.
