Juvenes Translatores 2026
Our school has been honoured with an official award from the European Commission in recognition of our student Aušra Andrulytė (S7 LTA) for her outstanding performance in the prestigious European Union young translators’ competition “Juvenes Translatores”.
The award was presented to Aušra by the Deputy Director, Kristiina Siimes.
This year’s “Juvenes Translatores” competition was one of the largest in recent years. A total of 3,004 students from 716 schools across all EU Member States took part. Participants worked with 155 different language combinations drawn from the 24 official EU languages. Each student was given two hours to translate a text prepared by the European Commission. The jury placed particular emphasis on accuracy, style, fluency, and the ability to convey the tone of the original text.
Among all participants, the European Commission selected 27 overall winners (one from each country) and awarded special prizes to students whose translations stood out for their professionalism and linguistic sensitivity. Aušra Andrulytė was among these distinguished young translators - an exceptional achievement both for her and for our school.
In its evaluation, the jury highlighted Aušra’s ability to render the meaning of the original text with precision and nuance, while maintaining a clear and engaging style - qualities characteristic of a mature translator.
All laureates and special prize recipients were invited to take part in training sessions and seminars organised by the European Commission, where they gained insight into the work of professional translators and developed a deeper understanding of Europe’s multilingual culture.
We warmly congratulate Aušra and wish her continued success!
